Arisa encounters many abuses and malpractices in its research into supply chains in South Asia. These include violations of human rights and, more specifically, labour rights. Key problems include underpayment of wages (not paying the minimum wage, let alone a living wage), excessive overtime, dangerous and unhealthy working conditions and (sexual) harassment.
Arisa specialises in three issues that are very widespread in South Asia: child labour, forced labour and discrimination.
